Genioplasty
Genioplasty or chin correction surgery is a cosmetic procedure to enhance the shape and appearance of the chin in minor to moderate discrepancies where patients do not wish a jaw surgery. It helps contour the chin, neck and jawline by directly correcting the chin bone or by using bio compatible implants that enhance the chin and jaw line. Genioplasty can be performed alone or in combination with other jaw, nose or neck related surgeries depending on the overall cosmetic purpose and patient needs. Chin augmentation or reduction is a relatively simple procedure which is customized based on patient requirements.

Sliding Genioplasty
A procedure where the chin bone is separated away from the lower jaw through an incision, to move and alter the shape of your chin. The procedure may involve either removal of excess bone or reattaching the chin bone with a gap for chin enhancement where the bone would naturally grow back in to. Through the use of screws and plates, the shape of the chin is surgically altered to its desired position.
Chin Implant Surgery
Chin implant surgery involves the use of alloplastic implants surgically placed inside the lining of your chin to correct, complement and enhance its shape. The shape and size of implants are pre-customized by the surgeon specific to your requirement. The bone tissue will gradually adhere to the inserted implant over a period of time, making it feel a part of the chin. At ClinicGP we give the patients an array of highly bio compatible alloplastic materials to chose from that have minimal risk of rejection or allergy.
Non-surgical Fillers
As an alternative solution to chin augmentation, the recent advances in technology has allowed the use of FDA approved Dermal Fillers, although in our experience the results may vary and may not be permanent.
More on Genioplasty
A complete cosmetic procedure, anyone who has an asymmetrical or deformed chin may opt to cosmetically correct it. In case of a Sliding Genioplasty or where an implant has been put, the results are permanent. However where a Filler is used the effects are temporary.
Temporary swelling and redness may be seen to varying degrees in some patients after a Genioplasty. Rarely infection or allergic reaction to implants or numbness in the operated areas are some of the side effects that may be seen. However with proper care during surgery and precise follow up these can be prevented.
This procedure is simple and has minimal downtime with patients ready to carry on with their routine in a weeks’ time. However depending on the complexity, there would be specific after care regime that one needs to adhere to.
Post-operative medication, maintenance of oral hygiene, ideal sleep positions and other instructions as provided by our expert surgeon will need to be adhered to.
